How do you unclog your sink?

I think our sink is clogged not only because of the hair of my cotenants but also because of oil pulling. I have been rinsing in that sink for almost a year now. It’s usually 2x a day because I love oil pulling so much I do it before and after brushing my teeth.

I boiled water yesterday after I removed some hair. I’m sure there are more but I can’t open the sink. I poured boiling water in the sink for 3 times. I noticed that instead of unclogging, it gets worse. Water is not draining properly. I also noticed that boiling water melted the adhesive on the wall. It caused leak and I don’t know what to do.

Try baking soda and vinegar.  Pour the vinegar in the drain, add the baking soda, and it will bubble like crazy.  Let is sit for about a half hour so it can do its work.  Then, test to see if it drains.  If not, repeat.  Sometimes it works, but we had a plastic pipe in the basement come loose from its support hanger and it hanging down so that the pipe was curved and nothing could pass through.  A plumber knew the problem and we never would have figured it out!  Good luck my friend.

Thank you, @debbiekay! While waiting for an answer, I also made a research and I pulled up so many results suggesting vinegar and baking soda. Others also advised to use boiling water to drain after using vinegar and baking soda but I’m afraid to use boiling water again as it melted the adhesive. I appreciate your help. I’ll try and give you feedback.

We tried these methods, one of them made the pipes weak and holes started coming in them, the best method I have found is get a small plunger for sink drains and then when its clogged and you have a little water in the sink, plung it and keep doing it. You can hear when the clog lets loose and goes through.  I did this last week as my husband couldn’t get it opened, even replaced pipes and this was the BEST method I found. My sink is still clear.

It has happened to us several times. If it is a small block and the water is able to drain out, we use a chemical meant for this or else we remove the bend and clean it and then replace it.

I used baking soda and vinegar but they didn’t remove the clog. I bought a chemical which the store suggested will dissolve the clog including hair. It dissolved not only the hair but some parts of the pipe.
