In case of an apocalyptic event, are all bird eggs edible? Do they need to be cooked?

I believe it would depend on the type of apocalyptic event. If it was a form of chemical warfare or something else that could permeate the egg’s shell, I would say no. If not, I’d say yes to being edible and no to needing to be cooked. You may wish to candle them with a flashlight or other light source, if possible, to ensure you are not eating a formed chick who may still be alive and able to hatch and help sustain future generations (or at least let you know if you’d be eating an egg or a chick, which would also be fine for survival). As a side note, unwashed eggs preserve longer especially if refrigeration is not possible so if saving your bounty for later, don’t wash them until just before use (if bothering even then). Grind the shells and eat them, too, if you can. It’s a great calcium source.

It depends apocalyptic event, if the nature of pollution with chemicals, if an atomic bomb, if nuclear war, then the egg is contaminated, it will be contaminated. In this case the risk is very high if they eat eggs, unwashed, uncooked, baked in the ashes, or any other idea.
